The Membership Drive for the Huntingdon Alumni Association for 2017 is underway. We hope that you will join or renew your membership by clicking on and completing the membership form above, writing a check for $10, and mailing to the address above. Your membership will begin now and will not expire until September 2017. Since this is an annual membership fee, you will need to renew each year in September by sending your $10 check to the address above or use PayPal. This insures that you will always be an active member of the Huntingdon Alumni Association.

PURPOSE OF THE HAA:

                Staying Connected

Communication among alumni is most important, but since postage is quite expensive, we are asking that when you send your form in with your check, please put your email address so that we can reduce postage expense by communicating via email unless you do not have an email address, then we will send you a letter. We will also communicate via the Huntingdon AlumniAssociation Facebook Page, The Carroll County News, The Huntingdon Municipal Newsletter, The McKenzie Banner, and the Huntingdon Radio Station. Listed below is the current HAA Board and Officers. Their telephone numbers and email addresses are included if you have a question that needs to be answered.

HUNTINGDON ALUMNI ASSOCIATION CURRENT EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES

The current board and officers began working in September 2015. We have completed the following:

1.       September – November were planning sessions with visibility in the community and communication as top priorities.

2.       December – The Huntingdon Alumni Association entered a car in the Huntingdon Christmas Parade. Steve and Judy Dill, alumni, drove a white corvette with blue and gold HAA signs on both sides.

3.       January – The Huntingdon Alumni Association participated in the Huntingdon Basketball Homecoming by sponsoring a “Shoot For $100 From Half-Court Contest” during halftime. No one hit the basket but great PR.

4.       March – Participated in the Huntingdon Baseball KickOff Banquet. We worked in the background (decorating, washing dishes, cleaning up) with Coach Eubanks to make for a successful banquet. As a result, Barry Mac Murphy, board member, spoke briefly at the banquet about the Huntingdon Alumni Association.

5.       April – In 2009 Brooke Hodges and William Smothers, charter board members, met with Mayor Kelley and secured a future office for the HAA at city hall. The new Huntingdon City Hall has opened, and we have been given a beautiful office that we can call home. The current board is in the process of decorating the office so that we can participate when the Huntingdon City Hall Open House occurs. We invite you to visit our new office at open house and then throughout the year. Also on April 29, we sponsored a hamburger cookout at Kelly’s Sports Complex for the 2016 Seniors. Scotty Portis, board member, spoke to the seniors and gave a Mustang Pride Speech on the importance of becoming an alumnus. Seniors were given alumni cards and a free membership for one year with the hope that they will renew each year.

6.       May – Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to two deserving seniors at graduation 2016. We are encouraging young and old to join the HAA, so graduation night Jess Dill, youngest board member and son of Judy and Steve Dill, will announce the scholarship recipients, and Scotty Portis, the oldest current board member, will give the charge to the seniors following the passing of the torch.

7.       May – September – Membership drive

8.       August – We will have a food booth at the 2016 Carroll County Fair. We need workers. If each decade could just provide workers for one day, we would be successful. Funds earned would be used for scholarships, events for alumni, school support, and working toward the Mega Reunion which will be held on the last Saturday in September during the Heritage Festival in 2020.

9.       Ongoing – Working to update the current HAA database. Please when you renew or join, send your most current information: email address, home address, telephone number, anything else that will help us to communicate with you.

We hope that you will join or renew your HAA Membership so that you can keep in touch with classmates and friends. We spent about 12-13 years seven hours a day with each other as classmates, and even though we may not have seen each other for a long time and we might not recognize each other, it is a joy when we do and can sit down and visit and share memories of our “good ole school days.” We are not perfect but the current board is working to update and communicate with you. Thanks!
